Silent Bargaining Representatives (SBRs) are union members who silently represent USA during negotiations. This is your opportunity to be a fly on the wall as management and our union bargain YOUR CONTRACT. You will be able to see and hear what is discussed, take vital information back to union membership, and get a better understanding of how your contract is negotiated. Any dues-paying member may be an SBR for one or more sessions.
Sign up to be a silent bargaining member today!
All SBRs must comply with the Rules for Silent Bargaining Representatives.
The SBR preparation meeting is at 9:40am. Bargaining is from 10am-12pm. There is an optional debrief meeting with the USA Bargaining Team 12-1pm. Please make arrangements with your supervisor for this time. You may need to use your lunch break, some vacation or personal time, or flex your time. Make sure this is in place before you commit to attending a bargaining session.
The purpose of SBRs is to: enhance transparency; provide the bargaining team with more perspectives and feedback; demonstrate our unity; and allow more first-hand accounts to reach our co-workers. SBRs are not merely observers, but are silent members of the union’s bargaining team.
Additionally, our collective representation in the bargaining room will hold management accountable – they cannot discount our voices, our needs, if we are there to witness what is said and done.
